The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) office is on Irwin Road, in the Old Exhibition Building. It is open Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 5:30 pm. Tel: 442096. Fax: 441833.

It has branches at the railway station and the main bus stand.

When to Go

If you are going to Mysore(Mysooru) it’s almost a must that you are there during the Hindu festival of Dussehra. It is bang in the beginning of the tourist season, in October, though the exact date varies from year to year. The now defunct Rajah winds his way across the city in a royal grand procession with much fanfare and trumpeting never mind his plebian status!

Where do I Stay?

Accommodation is available in variety. The budget accommodation scene is good, usually no-frills but clean and neat. There are some value-for-money good mid-rung hotels as well as a few luxury hotels that have a pool, coffee shop and health club. Take your pick.

What to bring

The climate demands not more than light cottons and open sandals. It gets neither unbearably hot nor extremely cold in Mysore(Mysooru). Only, remember the rains begin in June and last until the beginning of October. Carry your umbrella or raincoat if you’re visiting in this period.
