Most eating joints at Mysore(Mysooru) are good. There are patisseries,
multi-cuisine restaurants, bars and posh coffee shops.
There’s ample variety in both prices and ware
to suit any wallet and palate. Some places have classical
music and in another vein, huge delicious `thalis’.
There are a couple of places that serve drinks that
aren’t too snazzy but nice in a quiet sort of
way. Cinemas screen films in English, Hindi and Kannada.
Shopping
Incense, sandalwood carvings, silk are all produced
locally in small factories. These can be picked up at
emporia in town (or at mind-boggling prices abroad).
Most factories won’t mind visitors where you can
see the process firsthand and maybe pick up the ware
at cheaper rates.
